Easter Brunch Still a Classic

Published On: April 12, 2019

Easter is a day that tends to lean towards being a daytime family affair in which families hunt and paint eggs and eat a celebratory meal. While many still celebrate at home, 17% of Consumer’s according to a Food Institute study, plan to dine out on Easter. In fact, the holiday continues to be on the top of the eat-out list according to the National Restaurant Association.
So when do diners dine? More than 50% of respondents to a recent NRA survey indicated that lunchtime is the preferred time to eat out on Easter. While Easter brunch continues to be the staple of the holiday, often the holiday menu is offered the entire day.
I asked our Fishbowl experts, what trends they have noticed for Easter brunch menus and dining offers. Regardless of the time of day, our experts have noticed Easter Day menus typically come with a standard set price for adults and children. However, not only are restaurants creating standardized offers, but they are emphasizing on longer and earlier starting brunch hours, as well as, a focus on drink specials.
Our experts also noticed that for many clients, Easter marks the start of the spring seasonal menu, where seasonal foods such as morels, fiddleheads, and ramps get incorporated into their menus. Although this produce is a little bit pricier it is a great way to capitalize on the new produce coming into season. Not to worry, however, the holiday classics still prevail every year such as prime rib, ham, carving stations, potatoes, mac & cheese, egg benedicts, and etc.
Easter provides restaurants a chance to cater to the demographics of families which they might not cater to on a regular basis, as well as, try out spring dishes while having a large sample size of consumers. The hope is that if you can make a good impression on these families with unique Easter brunch or dinner offerings that they might return during other holidays like Mother’s and Father’s Day.
